To All of Our Fellow Grilled Cheese Lovers,
We cannot thank you enough for all the support that you have shown us thus far for this event. During these past few weeks the Grilled Cheese Pro Am has grown exponentially because of all the support that has come from the businesses and locals from around the Tampa Bay area. However, the response we have received from the attendees has been so overwhelming that, we feel that more sponsors and competitors will be needed to fulfill the attendance levels we are now expecting.
Rather than hosting an unbalanced event, we have elected to POSTPONE the “Grilled Cheese Pro Am” until next year (2013), so we can organize and deliver an even larger event then we thought possible when we started. Postponing has been a hard decision; but we are certain that everyone involved will experience a far better outcome with the newly scheduled date of, April 13th, 2013 (The Saturday after nationally recognized "Grilled Cheese Day").

On May 1, 2012 when we launch our promotional campaign for the new date, we invite you to get involved again with the event by signing up to compete, attend and/or judge. The city is on board with the new date and is working with us to accommodate the growing interest in competitors and attendees. We will keep everyone posted as we lock in more celebrity judges, bands, and sponsors. We will also be organizing a host of fun and interesting sub-event categories and games for all to participate in.

On April 13th, the Grilled Cheese Pro-Am is set to showcase great food and exciting entertainment in a fun, energetic, & classy way. By taking one of the most popular sandwiches ever made and turning it in to a real competition, Tampa’s best sandwich makers will go head-to-head to see who’ll be crowned the 2013 Best Grilled Cheeser! We’re inviting not only local restaurants to showcase their talents, but any amateur who is up to the challenge as well. This event will be fun for just about any age and will be another great economic stimulant in a much needed economy. ALL HAIL CHEESER!
10am-11:45am - Competitors show up and setup at their stations.
12pm - The Grilled Cheese Pro Am kicks off!
1pm-3pm - The Straight-Up Original round will take place. Get out your tickets and go judge as many sandwiches as you can.
3:15pm-3:45pm- Halftime (Live entertainment along with activities that have been going on all day from our sponsors and vendors). Also allows time for clean up in between rounds.
4pm-6pm - The Anything Goes round will take place. Get out your tickets and go judge as many sandwiches as you can.
6:15pm-6:30pm Ballots are in and counted.
6:30pm-7pm - The judging and crowning of a champion! This will include our prizes for the competition along with a raffle for some awesome giveaways.
7pm-11pm - There will be the wrap up party into the night. Live music.
The fun never stops, during the whole event there will be plenty of fun things to do so remember to walk around and see everything! The competition is just a part of it!
The Grilled Cheese Pro Am will hold two rounds for judging.
The first round will be straight up Original. Bread, Butter, and Cheese. Sorry there will be no exceptions for this round. The second heat we will kick it up a notch and let you to explore your creative side.
This second round is Anything Goes. This means that you are allowed to put ANYTHING in and on the sandwich that is edible. There will not be a limit on how many ingredients you can use in this round, however your sandwich must contain at least 60% cheese.
Competitor packets will be emailed to each team and will also be available online.
1st - $1000 (CHEESER) All hail Cheeser! and name on the Stanley Cheese
2nd - Plaque (THE BIG CHEESE)
3rd - Plaque (THE CHEESE WHIZ)
4th-300th (NACHO CHEESE)
You are only allowed to have one(1) to two(2) people that represent your team at your cooking station. We do suggest that you bring as many friends, family and supporters out to help vote you to the top. Also, if you want to bring in any of your own cooking supplies or utensils such as glove, aprons, hats or cutting boards) it must be filled out in the registration portion in advance so we are able to approve anything your team is bringing in from outside of the competition.
Each team must bring enough ingredients to make 25 sandwiches per round (50 sandwiches total).
All competitors must register on-line in advance of the competition. We will ask you to register under professional or amateur. There will be NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION ALLOWED.
There will be a maximum of 300 competitors for this event. Once we have reached capacity for competitors, we will start a waiting list for people to compete. There will be no guarantee of competition implied with the waiting list.
Before registration, all competitors MUST familiarize themselves with the rules as well as educate themselves as to safe and sanitary cooking and handling of food.
For the purposes of fairness, each person will only be allowed to enter ONE (1) sandwich per category. This means there will be a total of TWO (2) sandwiches for the competition.
There is a NON-REFUNDABLE competition fee per entry. Your competition fee gets free admission for you and ONE (1) assistant to the event.

The Reason: It’s no secret Tampa has had one of the worst turnarounds in the US. To be exact, we rank 97th out of the top 100 major metropolitan areas in economic recovery since 2010. It’s up to the people of Tampa to make the shifts this city desperately needs. Tampa Pro-Am along with BullsGuide.com has a vision to create multiple Pro-Ams in the Tampa Bay area. These events will bring much attention to the Tampa Bay area and will help stimulate the downtown economy. With your support our aim is to make the Grilled Cheese Pro-Am a must-attend for years to come.
Logistics: 300 Contestants and 5,000 people will gather at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa for what is going to be an unbelievable event starting at 12pm on April, 13th. Admission for the event will be free. However everyone who buys a ticket will get the chance to taste the sandwiches and be part of the judging process. The event is being presented with an emphasis on local restaurants and will showcase the beauty of our downtown area.
What’s in it for you? Below are the sponsorship options. The level of your contribution will determine the maximum benefit for your business. Each and every sponsor will be recognized through our social media outlets and will have a brief write up on www.BullsGuide.com and www.TampaProAm.com.
Your donations will go towards lighting, equipment, stages, park rental, insurance, banners, care packages, giveaways, etc.

There will be two types of judging for the event.
Executive/Celebrity Judges - 50% of the vote.
Attendee Judging = 60% of the vote *Yea, we put in 110%
1 ticket = Grilled Cheese sample (1/4 sandwich). Each plate will have an attached voting ballot that you will fill out and turn in to our event staff.
Any sandwich that does not get at least 16 ballots turned in will be disqualified from competition, so it is imperative that judges turn in their ballots after they have sampled a sandwich.
